Introduction

We are representing a global oil and gas business seeking an experienced Principal Risk Adviser to join their corporate risk function on a 6-month parental leave cover assignment.

This is a senior advisory role suited to someone with strong enterprise risk management experience, the confidence to engage with senior leaders and executives, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced corporate environment.

What are you going to do 

Reporting to the Corporate Risk Team Lead, you will support enterprise risk management activities across key corporate functions, with a particular focus on emerging risks, stakeholder engagement and the practical application of risk management frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise risk management activities across corporate business areas, supporting the consistent application of risk frameworks.
  • Provide trusted advice, guidance and constructive challenge to senior leaders and executives on current and emerging risks.
  • Manage and maintain the organisation's emerging risk profile, identifying key themes, trends and exposures.
  • Facilitate risk discussions, workshops and review sessions with senior stakeholders to strengthen risk ownership and accountability.
  • Build strong relationships across corporate functions to support risk identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting.
  • Prepare and present risk insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the continuous improvement of enterprise risk management practices, tools and reporting.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy while contributing to key deliverables within a short-term assignment.

Essential skills and knowledge

You will be a senior risk, compliance, legal or governance professional with demonstrated experience supporting enterprise or corporate risk activities within a complex organisation.

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

  • Approximately 10 years' experience in corporate risk, enterprise risk, compliance, legal, governance or a related discipline would be highly beneficial for this role
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and their practical application.
  • Experience engaging, influencing and presenting to senior leaders or executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate risk conversations and provide clear, commercially minded advice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across diverse corporate functions.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes quickly.
  • Oil and gas, energy, resources or large corporate experience will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
  • You must have current right to work in Australia to be consdered for this role
