Our client, a multinational mining and metals company is seeking candidates for a principal – equipment strategy (mechanical engineer) role in Saskatoon, SK.

In this foundational role, the principal -Equipment Strategy specialist Provides technical expertise in developing Mechanical equipment strategies for mining and processing systems that deliver optimal safety/productivity outcomes at the lowest operating cost. This role will work closely with the internal and external project teams to preserve our clients operational key value drivers.

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to lead the team of consultants to complete the mechanical equipment maintenance strategies including RCM/FMECA studies and 1SAP master data for the asset classes including Underground Mine, Hoists, Mill & NPI
  • Develops and own comprehensive equipment strategy models for the systems and assets including the preventive, corrective and asset integrity tasks for the assigned portfolio.
  • Lead the migration of all equipment FMECA models into client's Asset Performance Management application for steady state operations.
  • Work with project engineering and vendors to have equipment Operations and Maintenance manual data available on time to complete FMECA and SAP master data.
  • Collaboration with Center of Excellence equipment strategy teams to enhance the delivery maintenance readiness scope.
  • Actively collaborate and align with other Maintenance Readiness team members to deliver a successful Equipment Maintenance Master Data
  • Prepares standards/ guidelines and executes reliability engineering activities, carries outpost execution tasks and eliminates defects to facilitate reliable and efficient maintenance operations.
  • Optimizes, and governs asset/maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvementand replication of best practices across assets and equipment while optimizing value for the long term.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Designs and implements governance/assurance practices and Management of Change procedures to control value outcomes.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organization.
  • Flexible to work with other time zones.
  • Leading and engaging people and creating an environment of trust and collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and emerging issues.
  • Responsive to team needs with ability to adjust based on feedback.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential conflicts within and across teams.
  • Understands the capabilities of each team and acts to develop proficiency. Extensive project management and facilitation experience to deliver results on time and on budget.
  • Experience with establishing programs from the ground up by following accepted industry standards for problem solving and management expertise.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary engineering and/or equivalent.
  • Experience with development and deploying green field equipment maintenance readiness tasks.
  • Multiple years of experience with maintenance equipment strategy and master data development process
  • Extensive experience in the application of workplace safety standards.
  • Experience leveraging advancing reliability engineering tools and technology (ex. GE Asset Performance Management, Availability Work Bench to deliver outcomes.
  • Contract & contractor team management experience.
  • Management of budgeting, cost control and continuous improvement
