Introduction

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer with a strong background in solar farm design and project delivery to join their dynamic team based in Perth.
Reporting to the Technical Lead for Solar, you will be responsible for leading studies, designs, and system integration for solar projects both locally and globally. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge solar technology advancements and contribute to the growth of our team.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead studies and design for all solar projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and standards.
  • Option for technology advancements to optimize project performance and efficiency.
  • Manage system integration, ensuring seamless operation and functionality.
  • Negotiate technical aspects of procurement contracts for solar farm equipment.
  • Understand and comply with grid connection requirements of major Australian networks.
  • Design Solar Farm DC reticulation and MV electrical systems, including protection, switchboard schematics,termination diagrams, and cable/conductor sizing.
  • Integrate Solar Farm SCADA systems to monitor and control project operations effectively.
  • Stay updated with the latest solar technologies, products, and installation methodologies.
  • Oversee Solar Farm operations and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Proven experience in solar farm project delivery.
  • Strong negotiation skills, especially in technical procurement contracts for solar farm equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of grid connection requirements for major Australian networks.
  • Proficiency in Solar Farm DC reticulation design and MV electrical design, including protection, switchboard schematics, and termination diagrams.
  • Experience with Solar Farm SCADA integration.
  • Familiarity with current and future solar technologies, products, and installation methodologies.
  • Previous experience in Solar Farm operations and maintenance is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and international assignments as required.
