Introduction

  • The Planning Specialist is responsible for the Project Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract(s) schedule and all aspects of the Progress Measurement System.
  • This includes development, maintenance, monitoring, controlling and integration of the schedule(s) including verification and reporting in addition to ensuring that all activities comply with standardized processes and are delivered to the highest possible standards.
  • Understanding of the key project drivers to ensure delivery of the project within the agreed timeframe.
  • Short deadlines and high pressure to deliver completed staff work.
  • Ensures the highest level of Project Management Team satisfaction by providing, within corporate standards, quality services and amenities.
  • Major challenges are time management to carry out various activities and/or assessments related to schedule, progress measurement and change management.

What are you going to do 

  • Develops and maintains project schedules ensuring they reflect the approved project design/execution scope.
  • Reviews Contractor project control procedures to ensure requirements are met.
  • Reviews and checks Contractor progress reports for accuracy of progress measurement.
  • Reviews and monitors the Contractor’s schedules for logic, detail, and interfaces.
  • Ensures subcontractor schedules are integrated into overall schedules.
  • Ensures vendor and supplier schedules for critical equipment and bulks are integrated into overall schedules.
  • Monitors and appraises Contractor performance against control plans for progress and schedule control.
  • Evaluates project changes for schedule impact and incorporates approved changes into the overall schedule.
  • Advises on potential schedule issues, provides corrective actions, and verifies their implementation.
  • Conducts periodic meetings with the Contractor to review progress and reports project status to management.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Law, Engineering, Accounting, Business Management/administration or commercial disciplines.
  • Minimum of 08 years’ experience in project scheduling and controls for oil and gas facilities capital projects / operating companies
  • Thorough and extensive knowledge of project controls principles, theories, and concepts.
  • At least five (5) years site/field scheduling experience.
  • Experience developing work methods in accordance with established Company policies, directives from Management, schedules and professional engineering standards.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Able to work within a defined role with limited supervision.
  • Willing and able to travel as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer literacy skills (Primavera P6, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Hands on working experience in Primavera P6 Version 18 and above.
  • Good knowledge of using Primavera Schedule Risk Analysis software for conducting Schedule Risk Analysis.
