Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Permit Coordinator to support a major construction project. This individual will coordinate permit requests, reviews, approvals, communications, and tracking to ensure field activities are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.

The Permit Coordinator will serve as a key interface among field execution teams, system owners, permit authorities, construction management, Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H), and operations personnel.

Location: Chandler, Arizona

Contract: 12 months, with strong possibility of extension

Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 40-50 hours per week; may increase to 60 hours depending on project needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and track permit requests throughout the complete permit lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate permit logs, records, status reports, and performance metrics.
  • Verify that permit documentation is complete before submission for review and approval.
  • Coordinate all required reviews, hold points, and approvals before permit issuance.
  • Maintain records of permit approvals, suspensions, closures, and supporting documentation.
  • Facilitate communication between permit requestors, field teams, system owners, and approval authorities.
  • Confirm that work scopes, boundaries, hazards, risks, and mitigation requirements have been reviewed.
  • Coordinate shutdowns, system isolations, access requirements, and facility notifications.
  • Ensure permit requirements are incorporated into work packages and pre-task planning.
  • Support permit-related audits, compliance reviews, and project-readiness assessments.
  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective-action tracking involving permit-related issues.
  • Monitor permit performance and identify potential delays, gaps, or compliance concerns.

Essential skills and knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Permit Coordinator, Permit-to-Work Coordinator, Work Control Coordinator, LOTO Coordinator, or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of permit-to-work processes, field safety, hazard controls, isolations, and construction work planning.
  • Experience coordinating permits in an active construction, commissioning, operations, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret work scopes, boundaries, risks, work packages, and pre-task plans.
  • Strong documentation, tracking, organization, and stakeholder-communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, permit databases, document-control systems, or electronic permit-to-work platforms.
  • Semiconductor or data center project experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting large industrial, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy, or mission-critical construction projects may also be considered.

Employment Details

  • Twelve-month contract with a strong possibility of extension.
  • Nonexempt position with overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for hours worked over 40.
  • Nine paid holidays.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
  • Per diem may be available for qualifying nonlocal candidates, subject to approval
