Introduction

  • The purpose of the Superintendent (Offshore Construction) is to support the Head Fabrication to manage the onshore and offshore fabrication requirements of the Project, to ensure objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule; and to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with safety and quality standards applicable to the work.
  • Work effectively within established procedures or create and endorse new procedures as necessary to further develop the Project Management philosophy.
  • Work on large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment, with tight deadlines, high pressure, and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multitask.
  • Overall responsibility and accountability for construction work produced by the Project.
  • Authority to establish new processes and procedures related to construction practices in the Project.
  • High visibility to senior management, Contractors and/or 3rd party owners.
  • Establishes credibility with peers, subordinates, and supervisors.

What are you going to do 

  • Undertake line management responsibility for Site Safety performance.
  • Assist the Head Fabrication in executing Project responsibilities.
  • Manage all construction requirements of the Project, to ensure the technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fabrication, construction, hook-up and mechanical completion.
  • Ensure construction interfaces with Project PMT, Site PMT and Contractors are effectively managed.
  • Support external interfaces with RLC and other operators.
  • Monitor Contractor performance and provide advice as necessary, to ensure design goals, design philosophies and specification are achieved.
  • Coordinate the input and review the development of Contractor detailed engineering, procurement, schedule, and execution plans, to complete the work.
  • Schedule and arrange technical support to shareholders.
  • Lead, monitor, and approve Contractor construction work.
  • Monitor and appraise the Contractor’s performance for safety, quality, cost, and schedule; ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Verify physical progress and approve or endorse Contractor invoices, as appropriate.
  • Ensure Contractor design documents and other submittals are reviewed and approved in accordance with the EPC contract requirements.
  • Ensure technical aspects of the Risk Management Plan are managed effectively.
  • Review and approve design changes, specification revisions and exceptions in accordance with the Project Management of Change (PMOC) processes.
  • Coordinate all construction changes, including justification for cost and schedule impacts, in accordance with the PMOC procedure.
  • Provide technical support to procurement activities.
  • Ensure the construction expectations of the Quality Assurance plan are met.
  • Prepare technical presentations for review with senior management.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Broad experience in shore pulls, PL and offshore installation.
  • 10-12 years broad experience in all project phases (i.e. engineering, procurement and construction)
  • At least ten (10) years specific involvement in the design, construction, and startup of major process facilities.
  • Minimum of five (2) years as an Onshore and Offshore construction superintendent.
  • Worldwide experience with contractors and vendors, particularly those involved in the construction of facilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good technical and supervisory skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decisions using presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage development and implementation of Projects Managements Systems adapted to Oil & Gas industry.
  • Requires strong analytical, organizational and planning skills.
