This opportunity offers a hands-on role within a dynamic Research and Development environment, supporting metallurgical testwork and contributing to the advancement of low-emissions iron processing technologies.

What are you going to do 

  • Conduct and support metallurgical testwork campaigns aligned with process development objectives
  • Prepare ores, reagents and materials required for laboratory testwork programmes
  • Operate, monitor and troubleshoot metallurgical test equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepare and package testwork samples for submission to analytical laboratories
  • Analyse and interpret testwork data to identify trends, diagnose issues and support process optimisation
  • Accurately record results and maintain clear, detailed documentation of all activities
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces in a clean, organised and safe condition
  • Follow all experimental procedures, operating instructions and safety protocols
  • Ensure compliance with facility safety, health and environmental requirements

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Experience working in a metallurgical laboratory environment is highly desirable
  • Qualifications in metallurgy, chemistry or physical sciences are preferred
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to safely set up, operate and monitor laboratory testwork equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Proven analytical capability and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and environmental compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
