Introduction

Brunel is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanic Technician - Oilfield Equipment to join a global oilfield services organisation based in Jandakot with occassional trips to offshore rigs.

This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting a range of specialised surface equipment used across wireline, well testing, coil tubing and stimulation operations. The role will suit a mechanically minded technician with strong diesel engine, hydraulic, pneumatic and troubleshooting experience, who is confident working on complex mobile, trailer-mounted and skid-mounted equipment.

What are you going to do 

You will work as part of the maintenance team to ensure equipment is maintained, repaired and delivered on time to support operational requirements across the business. The role will involve preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, equipment reliability improvements and accurate maintenance reporting through internal systems.

Duties include:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair specialist surface equipment used across oil and gas operations.
  • Work on wireline logging units, oilfield stimulation pumps, mixers, blenders and coil tubing units.
  • Support maintenance of heavy and light vehicles, deck engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Complete planned maintenance in line with internal maintenance programs and work instructions.
  • Record maintenance activity, parts, labour, work orders and equipment movements through internal maintenance systems.
  • Improve equipment reliability, availability and overall performance.
  • Support failure investigations and assist with root cause analysis where required.
  • Liaise with field operations teams to provide mechanical support and troubleshooting advice.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime and improving maintenance efficiency.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Strong experience as a Mechanic Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter or similar.
  • Experience working on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
  • Exposure to Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel or similar engines would be highly regarded.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, mobile plant, oilfield equipment or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to work from maintenance manuals, procedures and work instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Technical certificate required; diploma or advanced diploma in engineering would be preferred.
  • Full Australian working rights.
