Introduction

  • A Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • The role supports the integrity and performance of rotating and static equipment in industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, power generation, water treatment, and other heavy industrial facilities.

What are you going to do 

* Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical equipment.* Conduct routine inspections to identify equipment deterioration, wear, corrosion, and potential failures.
* Execute maintenance schedules in accordance with maintenance management systems and manufacturer recommendations.* Carry out breakdown maintenance and emergency repairs to restore equipment availability.
* Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history documentation.* Assist in the installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
* Verify proper assembly and functionality of mechanical systems before startup.* Conduct equipment checks and performance testing during commissioning activities.
* Ensure installations comply with engineering specifications, drawings, and safety standards.* Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment malfunctions.
* Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble defective parts and components.* Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures.
* Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and maintainability.* Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
* Maintain and overhaul pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, fans, mixers, and gearboxes.* Perform shaft alignment using conventional and laser alignment techniques.
* Carry out bearing inspections, replacements, and lubrication activities.* Monitor equipment vibration, temperature, and operating conditions.
* Support condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs.* Inspect and maintain valves, pipelines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, and mechanical structures.
* Perform gasket replacement, flange management, bolt tensioning, and leak repairs.* Assist in turnaround and shutdown maintenance activities.
* Conduct pressure testing and equipment integrity inspections.* Adhere to company HSE policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
* Ensure the safe use of tools, lifting equipment, and maintenance machinery.* Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSA), risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
* Report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.* Maintain housekeeping standards in mechanical workshops and work areas.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Vocational or trade certification in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, desalination, or industrial facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment maintenance.
  • Experience in shutdown, turnaround, and commissioning activities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Technical Trade Certification in Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Rigging and Lifting Certification.
  • Confined Space Entry Training.
  • Working at Height Certification.
  • H2S Safety Training.
  • Permit-to-Work System Certification.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response Training.
