Introduction

We are hiring an experienced Mechanical Technician for a workshop-based opportunity in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and inspection of gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors. This role involves working in a modern rotating equipment service facility, supporting precision repair and refurbishment activities.

What are you going to do 

  • Perform dismantling, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of rotating equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance and overhaul of gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Support reverse engineering activities for worn or damaged components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and repair procedures.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Work closely with machinists and engineering teams during repair and refurbishment activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, safety procedures, and workshop best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in rotating equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Hands-on experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical fitting, assembly, disassembly, and overhaul techniques.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments for inspection and quality control.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software is preferred.
  • Good understanding of workshop safety standards and maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.

Essential skills and knowledge

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician with a proven background in rotating equipment maintenance, overhaul, and repair within the energy, oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors.

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in rotating equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Proven experience working on gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • Strong knowledge of dismantling, inspection, assembly, alignment, and overhaul of rotating equipment.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering and workshop repair processes.
  • Knowledge of CAD software is an added advantage.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary workshop environment.
