Introduction

Join an innovative engineering team developing and testing new industrial technologies in a hands-on R&D environment. This unique Mechanical Engineer role combines workshop-based testing, equipment development, controls exposure and mechanical design. Working closely with engineers and technicians, you'll help validate new concepts, analyse performance data and contribute to the development of cutting-edge industrial solutions.

What are you going to do 

  • Support the testing, validation and development of new mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Execute test programs and assist with the development of testing methodologies.
  • Modify, improve and troubleshoot bespoke equipment, prototypes and test rigs.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret performance and testing data to identify trends and support engineering decisions.
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians and workshop personnel to develop and prove new concepts.
  • Support equipment assembly, commissioning and workshop-based activities.
  • Assist with fault finding and root cause analysis of equipment issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, findings, recommendations and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across equipment, processes and testing systems.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with safety and quality requirements.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
  • Previous experience within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, industrial, mining, energy or processing environments.
  • Hands-on workshop experience working with equipment, machinery or mechanical systems.
  • Exposure to control systems, instrumentation or automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience interpreting technical and operational data.
  • Exposure to mechanical design and engineering calculations.
  • Comfortable working across both office and workshop environments.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, product development or validation activities would be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment or industrial machinery is advantageous.
  • Any exposure to renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, electrochemistry or emerging technologies will be highly regarded but is not essential.
