Introduction

We are hiring experienced Mechanical Technicians and Machinists for a workshop-based opportunity in Qatar. Candidates should have 10+ years of experience in rotating equipment repair, precision machining, and overhaul of gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors. Experience with conventional machining equipment and workshop maintenance practices is essential.

What are you going to do 

  • Operate conventional horizontal lathes, boring machines, and milling machines to perform precision machining operations.
  • Machine, repair, and refurbish components used in turbo compressors, reciprocating compressors, gas turbines, and steam turbines.
  • Perform machining activities in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Carry out reverse engineering of worn or damaged components when required.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Ensure all machined components meet specified tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Prepare machining and inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in conventional machining and rotating equipment repair.
  • Proven experience operating horizontal lathes, boring machines, and conventional milling machines.
  • Experience machining components for gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • CNC operation and programming experience is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, machining tolerances, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Good knowledge of workshop safety standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.

Essential skills and knowledge

We are looking for an experienced Machinist with a strong background in precision machining and rotating equipment repair within the energy, oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors.

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience as a Machinist in a workshop or service center environment.
  • Proven experience operating conventional horizontal lathes, boring machines, and milling machines.
  • Experience machining and repairing components for gas turbines, steam turbines, turbo compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to close machining tolerances.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Experience with reverse engineering and component refurbishment is preferred.
  • CNC machining and programming experience is an added advantage.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
