Introduction

  • The role of lifting specialist is to serve as Company expert, focal point and approval authority in routine, non-routine critical engineered heavy/dynamic lifts and rigging operations;
  • To take a leading role in the Contractors preparations, by contributing through the development and subsequent approval of contractors various lifting/rigging requirements;
  • To ensure that these requirements meet all technical and statutory codes and practices related to undertaking mechanical handling.

What are you going to do 

  • Act as Company’s Focal point for all project lifting matters including approval of related lifting & rigging proposals, plans and technical documents submitted by Contractor;
  • Coordinate with all lifting/rigging operation steak holders, ensuring a cohesive approach is taken to any given scope;
  • Ensure that all works are strictly in accordance with project HSE standards, policies and procedures;
  • Support the project execution teams (Company & Contractor) with review of lifting procedures, together with providing technical support of mechanical handling execution matters;
  • Attend/facilitate and proactively contribute to Hazard Identification/Risk Assessments, pre lift/rigg site meetings, discussions and toolbox talks;
  • Directly oversee non routine, heavy and critical lifts, along with complex hauling & rigging operations at site, ensuring technical compliance with approved plans;
  • Act as Company inspection & validation (accept/reject) authority, for temporary mechanical handling equipment (site cranes, rigging loft and associated items);
  • Attend Construction review phases, to better understand the anticipated installation scopes, therefore anticipate lifting, hauling and rigging applications.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Fluent in English written and spoken;
  • Recognized valid Competent Lifting Specialist certification, issued by internationally recognized body;
  • Minimum 10 years’ demonstrable experience in senior lifting roles, responsible for lifting preparation;
  • review and approval, equipment inspection and approval and lifting operations execution;
  • Proven understanding of all lifting codes and practices under BS, ASME, LOLER, ISO etc;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Strong Team ethic, whilst able to work autonomously;
  • Computer literate in typical office programs, along with project management and specific lift design software.
