What are you going to do 

  • In this role, you will work collaboratively to plan, develop, coordinate, and review civil engineering design activities for projects. Responsibilities include producing drawings, facilitating technical discussions, communicating complex engineering matters, and preparing civil design estimates and work plans. Your recommendations will help ensure designs and execution plans align with project scope, schedule, budget, applicable regulations, and industry standards.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead civil designers and drafters on project assignments, including the development of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, and construction drawings.
  • Develop designs for complete and complex civil engineering systems, including earthworks, drainage systems, and roadway designs, with minimal supervision, enabling the preparation of detailed models and construction documents.
  • Assist in the development of detailed scale models.
  • Prepare or support the preparation of material requisitions and bid evaluation packages.
  • Review and monitor work to ensure compliance with approved civil design standards, supporting quality design, safe and reliable operations, and cost-effective construction.
  • Participate in constructability assessments and reviews.
  • Develop design and drafting procedures to improve consistency and standardization of design activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct site visits, as required, to resolve technical issues and interpret engineering drawings and project documentation.
  • Review civil design scope modifications and changes as needed to support project management activities.
  • Ensure civil engineering designs comply with all applicable codes, regulations, standards, and installation requirements.

Essential skills and knowledge

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of related professional experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in 3D modelling for site civil projects, including site earthworks, roads, drainage systems, roadways, and related infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency with civil modelling software such as Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience preparing civil material quantity takeoffs and estimating quantities for project execution.
