Job Summary The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs across a large-scale industrial construction project. This role ensures compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture through field engagement, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate and support health and safety projects and initiatives.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide health and safety guidance to construction, maintenance, and operations teams during project execution.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Prepare safety reports, maintain documentation, and communicate findings and recommendations to project stakeholders.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Experience leading health and safety initiatives within heavy industrial, construction, mining, oil & gas, or large capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
