What are you going to do 

We are partnering with our client, a leading organization in the oil and gas sector, to appoint an HSE Construction Specialist on a contract basis. This is a pivotal role within our client's team, focused on safeguarding people, assets, and the environment while supporting complex construction activities. You will be the on-site HSE champion, ensuring that our client's HSE Management System is effectively implemented across all project locations and that construction works meet company standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) support and advice to construction activities / sites for the project and ensure effective implementation of the Company's HSE Management System on all Project locations.
  • Support the execution of HSE plans, procedures, and programs to ensure all construction activities are carried out in compliance with the Company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Promote the Company Policies, goals, and programmes of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
  • Support the Project Management and HSE teams in all HSE matters related to the Project. Provide HSE advice to construction site-based Project team personnel and contractors.
  • Disseminate a culture of Risk Management within the Project organization and contractors.
  • Engage with Contractor HSE team(s) on all HSE matters related to the Project, and support HSE Management System bridging between the Company and main Project Contractors.
  • Deliver construction site HSE inductions, training and coaching as required to ensure high HSE standards are maintained.
  • Support the implementation and compliance with the control of work systems and procedures across all Project locations, including Permit-to-Work, Risk Assessment, Toolbox Talks, Life Saving Rules and their associated HSE procedures.
  • Monitor and report Contractor HSE Performance and ensure contractors work at sites is in accordance with the Company HSE standards.
  • Conduct audit and verification activities at site, to ensure compliance with required procedures and processes and that high HSE standards are maintained. Prepare the reports and submit them to the line manager.
  • Allocate sufficient site presence to ensure close monitoring of contractors' HSE compliance.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Recognized HSE qualification; National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate or Diploma.
  • 7-10 years' experience, preferably in onshore oil and gas construction projects.
  • Local / regional experience is highly desirable.
  • Member of HSE related Professional Body.
  • Industry recognized HSE training qualification(s).
  • Experience in similar HSE role(s) for the whole duration of the project construction.
  • Employees shall read, understand, and comply with the Company's Information Security Policies, Standards and Procedures.
  • Employees shall promptly report any suspected or actual information security incidents to their respective line manager or the IT department.
  • Employees shall protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Company's information assets.
