Introduction

Jouw logica bepaalt het moment waarop nieuwe hardware tot leven komt. Als Firmware Engineer werk je op het snijvlak van hardware en software, waar timing en betrouwbaarheid tot op de klokcyclus tellen. Je krijgt een specialistische rol waarin je diep in de techniek duikt en direct ziet wat jouw werk in de praktijk oplevert.

What are you going to do 

Als firmware engineer ontwerp je digitale logica die direct op een FPGA of ASIC draait, beschrijf je dit gedrag in een hardware description language en zorg je ervoor dat signalen op exact het juiste moment aankomen. Je werkt nauw samen met hardware-ontwerpers tijdens de bring-up van nieuwe printplaten.


Het is een rol voor wie van precisie houdt en graag begrijpt hoe iets tot op het laagste niveau werkt. Een fout in de timing is hier geen detail maar het verschil tussen werken en niet werken.

Essential skills and knowledge

Je denkt in registers, klokken en signalen, hebt affiniteit met elektronica en wilt begrijpen wat er echt onder de motorkap gebeurt. Je vindt het mooi om nieuwe hardware voor het eerst tot leven te zien komen.


Daarnaast heb je:

  • Enkele jaren ervaring als firmware engineer of embedded software engineer;
  • Goede beheersing van de Nederlandse taal;
  • Je woont in Nederland.
