The Cooling Principal is responsible for level 2 engineering support, and to be the technical expert on site

What are you going to do 

1) Advanced Troubleshooting & Escalations

  • Serve as the final/near-final technical escalation point for PAC/DX/CRAC/CRAH, InRow/InRoom, chillers, pumps, and hydronics, hybrid/economizer systems, MDC cooling, Cool Array modular solutions, and high-density air/liquid cooling.
  • Perform deep-dive diagnostics: refrigeration cycle, SOO (Sequence of Operation), controller logic, firmware anomalies, PID tuning, multi‑unit interaction, VFD/EC fan faults, BMS/communication (Modbus/BACnet/SNMP), airflow/thermal imbalance, humidity system issues, electrical/PCB.
  • Execute remote and on‑site support; validate operating parameters; perform safe emergency interventions where required.

2) Commissioning, Recommissioning & Optimization

  • Lead start-up and commissioning for the full APC-Uniflair portfolio (single and multi-module).
  • Optimize parameters and control sequences; validate SOO and stability in multi‑unit or hybrid configurations.
  • Support CFD reviews/simulations and thermals; ensure containment alignment and airflow management.

3) RCA, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct/participate in RCA investigations; define CAPA; track effectiveness to closure.
  • Analyze field data and trends to identify systemic issues; drive design/firmware changes with engineering/factories.
  • Contribute to reliability improvements, de‑risking known failure modes and eliminating repeat incidents.

4) Technical Content, Tools & Knowledge Enablement

  • Author and maintain troubleshooting guides, technical bulletins, SOO/best practices, and service playbooks for Field/L1teams and Partners.
  • Deliver targeted training (classroom/virtual/field), tech talks, and workshops (e.g., PID tuning, refrigeration diagnostics, airflow/containment).
  • Ensure content is accurate, discoverable, and up to date in service tools and knowledge repositories.

5) Cross-Functional & Factory Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, R&D, Product Engineering, Global Technical Teams, and OEM factories to resolve product issues, validate firmware fixes, align field behavior to factory specifications, and support new technology introductions.
  • Participate in design reviews, capacity planning inputs, and customer-facing RCA presentations for hyperscale/enterprise/colo/VIP accounts.

6) Governance, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards, lockout/tagout, refrigerant handling best practices; ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE thermal guidelines, EN 378, EPA 608 or local equivalent, F-Gas/MoEFCC or local).
  • Maintain rigorous documentation (service reports, commissioning records, asset baselines, parameter sets).

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven people management and leadership experience.
  • Strong background in Field Services operations and customer-facing technical environments.
  • Experience in cooling systems, electromechanical equipment, or industrial services is highly desirable.
