Brunel is proud to be partnering with a tier one mining business to source an experienced Contracts Specialist for a major projects and sustaining capital portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team delivering large-scale, complex, multi-disciplinary construction packages that support major mine development and sustaining capital works across the Pilbara.

What are you going to do 

As the Contracts Specialist, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement and contract management activities across a suite of project scopes. These scopes will include a variety of construction, services, consultancy, and equipment packages, with a strong focus on commercial outcomes, risk mitigation, governance, and supplier performance.

Working closely with project delivery and procurement stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting the successful execution of major sustaining capital works within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Starting in April 2026, this 12-month contract will be based in Perth CBD, with occasional site travel required.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead sourcing activities including procurement strategy development, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award
  • Develop and implement call-off statements of work, panel agreements, and standalone construction, supply, and consultancy contracts
  • Manage post-award contract activities including compliance, variations, claims assessment, and dispute resolution
  • Build and maintain strong, values-led relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Partner with delivery teams to drive value, reduce risk, and support successful project outcomes
  • Collaborate across procurement and wider project teams to leverage existing strategies and identify commercial synergies
  • Ensure all procurement and contract management activities align with strict governance, compliance, and commercial standards
  • Support a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in contracts and procurement within large-scale construction, mining, infrastructure, or major capital projects
  • Strong capability across tendering, bid evaluation, contract drafting, and negotiation
  • Sound understanding of contract law, commercial risk management, and negotiation strategy
  • Proven experience managing claims, variations, and commercial disputes, with the ability to drive practical outcomes
  • A strong commitment to supporting construction projects safely, particularly within remote or Pilbara-based operations
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across multiple business functions
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, complex project environment
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong focus on culture and collaboration
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline
  • You must have current right to work to be considered for this role
