Introduction

  • Leads the monitoring and oversight of the EPC-2 LNG Tank Contractor Team field planning, coordination, and execution activities within designated area of responsibility.
  • Appraises the performance of the EPC-2 LNG Tank Contractor Team in safety, quality, cost (as applicable) and schedule.
  • Evaluates field change proposals by the EPC-2 LNG Tank Contractor Team to manage the Onshore Project’s management of change process.
  • Prepares and provides routine verbal and written progress reports to the Onshore Project Head of LNG Tank Construction.
  • Ensures that the EPC-2 LNG Tank Contractor Team develops, implements, and sustains its Safety and Quality program at site.
  • Assist the EPC-2 Contractor in the coordination of activities between subcontractors and SIMOPS with OPCO.
  • Reports to Construction Head LNG Tanks
  • The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for LNG Tank construction activities on the Onshore Project. Takes responsibility for safety, quality, cost (as applicable) and schedule within their area of responsibility and supervises relevant construction personnel.
  • Hold the EPC-2 contractor to the terms and conditions of the contract.

What are you going to do 

  • Provides safety leadership by example to the Onshore Project Team and the EPC-2 LNG Tank Contractor Team, its sub-contractors and site vendors;
  • Onshore Project EPC-2 Team Construction representative for monitoring and coordinating site activities of the LNG Tank Contractor Team and its subcontractor(s) in their area of responsibility;
  • Reports on the construction activities, progress, areas of concern and mitigating actions;
  • Leads appropriate weekly construction discipline review meetings;
  • Responsible for implementation of execution activities and ensures development, review and approval (as required) of appropriate plans, procedures, and programs for safe and effective execution;
  • Provides accurate, timely and routine reports to the Head LNG Tank Construction on project planning and execution activities:

    - Reviews and approves construction field changes and extra work requests as delegated by the Head LNG Tank Construction;

    - Supervises and manages Onshore Project Team direct report project personnel;

    - Assists Onshore Project Construction Head LNG Tank in executing his responsibilities and acts in his behalf during his absence;

    - Monitors and ensures the correction of non-conformance report items and other issues supporting QA/QC compliance;

    - Monitors site material handling, prefabrication, and warehousing procedures with respect to their area to facilitate construction progress.

    - Ensuring full compliance to Onshore Project requirements in the construction of the LNG tanks;

    - Safe and timely completion of LNG Tank construction activities.

    - Communicates concisely in written and verbal context; prepares high quality written documents including e-mails.

  • Problem Solving/Complexity:

- Utilizes a systematic approach to problem solving that ensures accuracy, timeliness, and quality of documentation in resolution;

- Manages complex tasks to completion within time constrains of Project, with minimal guidance from more experienced staff;

- Decision Making Authority and Responsibility;

- Makes decisions and solves problems related to a specific discipline/field;

- Establishes credibility with peers, sub-ordinates and supervisors.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or science;
  • Recognized degree in engineering or construction management, or prior work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above;
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in project execution;
  • Experience in major Construction Projects (including brown-field work) with total capital expenditure >USD$1B;
  • Recent Qatar experience (last 5 years);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to review and comment on technical documents;
  • Good interpersonal skills.
