Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced HV Commissioning Electrician for Decarbonisation projects. Field-based role covering installation, testing, commissioning and energisation of HV systems (switchgear, transformers, protection relays, controls). Interpret schematics, HV/LV testing, fault finding, compliance with AS/NZS standards. Strong safety focus WA Electrical Licence and HV Switching req.

What are you going to do 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, functional testing, and energisation of HV systems (e.g., switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control systems).
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and test procedures.
  • Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and secondary injection tests.
  • Test and fault-find LV systems.
  • Commission control systems.
  • Carry out instrument calibration.
  • Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and other applicable standards.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults and non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate test records and commissioning documentation.
  • Liaise with engineers, package managers, and OPS personnel to coordinate commissioning activities.
  • Adhere to all site safety, environmental, and quality procedures

Essential skills and knowledge

Skills & Qualifications

  • WA (or equivalent) Electrical Licence.
  • HV Switching Operator certification
  • Demonstrated experience in high-voltage installation and commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems.
  • High level of commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a commissioning team.
  • Current CPR/LVR and White Card.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Minimum 5 year's Experience in mining, renewable energy, or high-voltage infrastructure, including AC and DC chargers.
  • Proven experience preparing and executing High Voltage switching including preparation of switching programs
  • Knowledge of SCADA and protection relay systems (e.g., SEL, Schneider, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with commissioning documentation and pre-commissioning processes.
  • Understanding of isolation and permitting systems.
  • Knowledge of WA Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations and relevant HV Legislation
