Introduction

We're recruiting experienced HV Electricians to support Pilbara-based operations across multiple site locations. This FIFO role from Perth is on a 2:1 roster, with transport provided from Busselton and Bunbury. You will join a high-performing commissioning team delivering decarbonisation projects, supporting the installation, testing, and commissioning of HV electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient fleet and infrastructure performance.

What are you going to do 

As a Commissioning Electrician, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, testing, commissioning, and verification of high-voltage electrical systems and associated infrastructure across site operations. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements, statutory obligations, and applicable Australian Standards, with your duties including the following:

  • Carry out commissioning, testing, and energisation activities on HV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and control circuits
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings such as schematics, single-line diagrams, and commissioning documentation
  • Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity checks, polarity verification, ratio testing, and secondary injection tests
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and verify performance of LV electrical systems and equipment
  • Commission control, protection, and instrumentation systems, including calibration of field devices
  • Investigate and resolve electrical defects and commissioning issues as they arise
  • Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and relevant site standards and procedures
  • Record and maintain accurate test results, commissioning data, and handover documentation
  • Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and operational teams to support commissioning activities
  • Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and toolbox discussions
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and quality management requirements on site

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Australian Electrical Trade Qualification or Skills Assessment
  • WA Electrical Grade A Licence / Current Western Australia Electrical Licence (Unrestricted)
  • HV Switching Operator Certificate
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage systems, protection, and control principles
  • Strong demonstrated experience in HV installation, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills across electrical systems
  • High commitment to safety, compliance, and zero harm principles
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a commissioning or project team
  • Current First Aid Certificate, CPR / LVR Certificate
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence (C Class)
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and analytical abilities
