The Commissioning and Start up Engineer is responsible for supporting and coordinating aspects of Commissioning for Upstream.

What are you going to do 

Description:

The successful candidate will act as senior site representative in the absence of the CSU Superintendent, prepare relevant commissioning procedures & documentation support for project specific Commissioning execution.

The role will also involve:

  • Scheduling and track commissioning progress
  • Provide input into facility design promoting safe and efficient execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate to forecast yearly required CSU Resources for commissioning projects
  • Ensure the application of appropriate client specific standards particularly where they relate to commissioning
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Upstream Project Commissioning
  • Report commissioning progress to the Upstream Business
  • Ensure a robust HSSE and Quality culture is undertaken on the project and on site in an appropriate professional manner
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a Commissioning audit program pertinent to the entire Project
  • Liaise with the Production Operations Group to ensure that at facility Start-Up there is a smooth transition of responsibility from / to Operations. Additionally provide support ensuring training skill development within the CSU team is compliant with QGC/Shell standards.
  • Demonstrate high-quality fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
  • Develop, Verify, Authorise & Issue permits within Scope
  • Provide input into facility design promoting safe and efficient execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Experience in Oil and Gas related projects highly regarded
  • Experience in successful commissioning assignments
  • Experience in dealing with equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and consultants involved in the Oil and Gas sector
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiations with third parties and ability to provide guidance on project commissioning matters
  • Experience in identifying potential issues and providing solutions
  • Knowledge in obligations under the Qld’s Petroleum and Gas Regulations Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Educated to tertiary level in an engineering discipline
  • Understanding of Commissionment programs, methodologies, and systems
  • Fluent English language skills - both verbal and written
  • Ability to actively interface between Engineering, Quality and Scheduling from a commissionment perspective
  • Ability to function in an organisation with multiple ongoing Projects
  • Ability to functionally manage multiple interfaces
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to understand other stakeholders’ objectives
  • Experienced in solving complex problems and decision making
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to demonstrate flexibility and innovation to achieve objectives
  • Knowledge of pre-commissionment and commissionment methodologies as applied in the Oil and Gas sector
  • Experience in applying and maintaining Commissionment Management Systems used to predefine and execute the entire completions verification scope
  • Knowledge of Project Management Engineering Planning Contracts Procurement etc.
