Introduction

Working as part of the site leadership team, you will provide commercial insight and financial guidance to support operational performance, profitability and informed decision-making. You will work closely with senior operational stakeholders and corporate commercial teams across financial reporting, forecasting, cost control, contract management and commercial governance

What are you going to do 

  • Lead commercial and financial performance reporting across the operation.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, management packs and performance commentary.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
  • Conduct detailed cost reviews and identify opportunities for improved productivity, efficiency and cost control.
  • Provide commercial advice and financial insights to senior operational leadership.
  • Monitor financial KPIs and identify trends, risks and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Manage contract claims, ensuring submissions are accurate, timely and compliant with contractual requirements.
  • Review and manage contract variations, extensions, amendments and other commercial matters.
  • Support the resolution of contractual disputes and commercial issues.
  • Interpret contractual requirements and ensure operational performance aligns with agreed obligations and KPIs.
  • Maintain strong commercial governance and ensure activities align with business risk frameworks and policies.
  • Support tender submissions, scope changes and commercial proposals.
  • Maintain appropriate control over operating and capital expenditure.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, contractors, operational teams and corporate stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across commercial processes and systems.
  • Provide guidance and support to members of the commercial and finance team.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualification highly desirable.
  • 8+ years' progressive experience across commercial, financial, contracts or management accounting environments.
  • Experience within mining, resources, construction, infrastructure or another capital-intensive industry.
  • Previous experience working within an operating mine or major project environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, claims, variations and dispute resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand how contractual decisions impact operational and financial performance.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with ERP/financial systems such as SAP, Pronto or similar is advantageous.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial and commercial information clearly to operational leaders.
  • Strong risk management, governance and compliance awareness.
  • A practical, commercially minded approach with the confidence to challenge decisions and drive outcomes.
