Introduction

Brunel is looking for an experienced Wellsite Geologist to join an offshore drilling project on a 2-year contract in Suriname.

Location: Offshore / Rig Site

Duration: 2 years

Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off

Schedule: 12 hours/day, 7 days/week while on rotation

Expected start: Q4 2026

What are you going to do 

The Wellsite Geologist will be responsible for supervising geological operations at the rig site, working closely with the Subsurface team and offshore operational teams. The role will be a key contributor to delivering drilling operations safely, on time and within budget, with responsibilities including:

  • Supervising and interpreting geological data acquisition at the rig site.
  • Following up on well operations and acquisition programs.
  • Coordinating and supervising Geoscience service companies and their crews and equipment.
  • Performing real-time data QA/QC and basic real-time interpretation.
  • Conducting post-well analysis.
  • Identifying potential drilling hazards in real time.
  • Ensuring the security and integrity of well data acquisition.
  • Supervising services including Mud Logging, M-LWD, E-Logging and Coring.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Experience in Operations Geology, as a Wellsite Geologist.
  • Onshore or offshore drilling experience, including deviated and/or horizontal complex wells.
  • Certification in Subsurface Operations Geology.
  • BTS (BAC+2) in Geology or higher, with relevant Operations Geology experience.
  • Fluent English.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to risk awareness and management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and operational environment.
