What are you going to do 

We are partnering with our client, a respected organization in the Oil and Gas sector, to identify a capable Project Manager to join our client's team on a contract basis in Chennai. This role will see you taking ownership of key projects, driving delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Planning, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning and Project Handover activities.
  • Develop integrated execution strategy, project schedule, budget, resource plan and project controls framework.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams covering Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Process, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
  • Coordinate execution of marine jetty, storage tank, pipeline, utility and terminal infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ASTM, OISD, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, PESO, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, licensors, OEMs, vendors and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Monitor project schedule, cost, quality, HSE, procurement progress and contractor performance using KPIs and dashboards.
  • Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, change management, claims avoidance and commercial coordination.
  • Drive value engineering, productivity improvement and project risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Coordinate FAT, SAT, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing and project acceptance.
  • Ensure timely preparation of MIS reports, management presentations, project documentation, as-built dossiers and handover packages.
  • Develop project governance, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring project engineers.
  • Comprehensive EPC project management and multidisciplinary engineering coordination.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM, IS, OISD, NFPA, IEC, IEEE and PESO standards.
  • Budgeting, project controls, contract administration, risk management and stakeholder management.
  • Software: Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, AutoCAD, MS Office and Power BI (preferred).

Essential skills and knowledge

  • BE / B. Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation or Chemical Engineering. ME / M. Tech / MBA in Project Management is preferred. PMP, PMI-SP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10-18 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Liquid Storage Terminals, Marine Jetty, Pipeline or EPC infrastructure projects with at least 5 years in project leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience delivering liquid storage terminals, marine jetties, cross-country pipelines and brownfield operating terminal projects.
  • Strong leadership capability with proven success managing large multidisciplinary EPC teams and high-value CAPEX projects.
