Introduction

  • The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the project schedule, ensuring all work activities are properly sequenced and aligned to the project's critical path.
  • The schedule serves as the primary tool for project execution, monitoring progress, and measuring performance.

What are you going to do 

  • Conducts or participates in all interactive planning sessions as required to create contractor's schedule deliverables
  • Performs what-if analysis, workaround identification, float analysis, critical path identification, and recommends any corrective actions needed to mitigate unfavorable deviations of the schedule
  • Reviews the Contractor's baseline schedule and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) considered as the project baseline or benchmark
  • Performs analysis and offers corrective actions as it relates to meeting planned progress per discipline
  • Validates claimed progress by analyzing Contractor's deliverables and construction activities
  • Identifies interface points between the Contractors' schedules to ensure coordination and optimization of the Project plan
  • Validates progress and payment milestones claimed in Contractor's monthly invoices
  • Monitors Contractor's compliance with best practices of project planning and scheduling and contractual requirements for schedule development and updates: phased, proper sequencing, logic, and relational-based activities
  • Estimates schedule impact of various changes and variance
  • Supports Project Management Team with preparing weekly and monthly status reports and Project dashboards
  • Review Contractor's weekly and monthly reports for accuracy
  • Prepares charts, tables, and 3-week lookahead schedules to assist Project Management Team in managing the overall project and ensures the schedule is a tool that is logical, usable, and understandable by the Project team
  • Assists in development of schedule identification, storage, retrieval, and report format standardization
  • Identifies and assesses period changes in schedule through use of special scheduling software
  • Participates in Project risk management workshops, implements mitigation actions, and quantifies schedule contingency
  • Develops, maintains, reviews, and updates integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, including detailed Level 3/Level 4 schedules as required
  • Performs schedule health checks, critical-path and near-critical-path analysis, identifying emerging risks and potential delays
  • Develops and reviews short- and medium-term look-ahead schedules and identifies constraints that may affect planned activities
  • Performs schedule variance and trend analysis against the approved baseline and recommends appropriate mitigation and recovery actions
  • Supports forecasting of key project milestones, including construction completion, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up
  • Supports time-impact analysis and assessment of contractor schedule claims, as required
  • Reviews Contractors' progress measurement methodology, productivity, and earned value performance
  • Supports preparation of weekly/monthly management dashboards, S-curves, schedule KPIs, and progress reports
  • Coordinates schedule interfaces across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up activities
  • Ensures schedule information is aligned, where applicable, with project cost, risk, change management, and progress-control processes

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • SME of Primavera P6, schedule risk analysis and Acumen Fuse
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous Operator capital project experience and/or working with an contractor
  • Experience in Petrochemical Unit design, engineering, construction, and commissioning and start-up
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method, Earned Value Management, progress measurement, schedule forecasting, and schedule variance analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing, analyzing, and challenging contractor baseline and updated schedules
  • Experience in schedule recovery planning, mitigation strategies, and time-impact analysis
  • Ability to analyze schedule trends, identify potential delays and constraints, and provide recommendations to Project Management
  • Strong team-building skills and ability to work with peers, company employees, and contractors
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and trouble-shooting abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with desire to lead and take responsibility
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Knowledge of industry standards and company standards
