What are you going to do 

Brunel is on the lookout for an experienced Lead HSSE Coordinator to consider a long term contract role with our client a Major EPCI Company to be based in China.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the company’s HSSEQ policies, requirements and procedures and the specific HSE requirements for the projects assigned.
  • Monitors construction activities of the projects, identifies workplace safety, health and environmental issues and proposes preventive and corrective measures so as to provide a safe and environment-friendly working environment.
  • Inspects work areas and how people work to identify and propose measures to correct unsafe work conditions, methods and practices.
  • Intervenes, advises and if necessary reports to Project HSSE Manager if working professionals are found working under unsafe conditions or having unsafe work practices.
  • Immediately informs Project HSSE Manager as well as the Construction Manager if a reportable incident is observed or encountered (e.g. FI, LTI, MTC, FA, Property Damage, Near Miss Incident).
  • Observes and checks on conditions of subcontractor-operated plant and equipment (e.g. cranes, forklifts) and work with subcontractor to rectify/improve the condition.
  • Conducts appropriate HSSE orientation programs for employees of vendors/sub-contractors.
  • Conducts accident/incident investigation and prepares investigation reports factually and timely.
  • Champions the Company's Program which includes awareness of the importance of safety and health to employees in general and project personnel working on Company's influenced sites.
  • Establishes and maintains emergency response plan for work sites including communications and drills.
  • Compiles and prepares safety and health records and reports in respect of the Company's influenced sites assigned.
  • Ensures that the project KPIs from the annual HSEQ Targets and Goals are achieved and reported.
  • Plan and Organized HSE Campaigns and Audit programs.
  • Plan and conduct surveillance audit.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety/Engineering
  • Completed Certification as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) through the Ministry of Manpower, or equivalent/similar for overseas base.
  • Must have knowledge of ISO 45001, internal auditor certification preferred.
  • Hot Work Assessor Certification is preferred.
  • Fire Safety Certification is preferred.
  • Min 7 years of progressive experience as a Safety Officer with exposure to the type of work performed on the project.
  • Must have shipyard experience, and ideally they will have worked for a major client.
  • Lead HSSE Advisors need to be Subject Matter Experts on high risk work including:Scaffolding
