Introduction

  • Provide technical industrial hygiene support to HSEQ that involve controlling health hazards in the workplace and facilitating further safe handover to Operating Asset to achieve Occupational Health related goals during project startup activities of led Major Projects both Onshore and Offshore.

What are you going to do 

  • Coordinate, develop and implement Industrial Hygiene Program (IHP) on led Major Projects both Onshore and Offshore, ensuring compliance with relevant occupational health and Industrial Hygiene standards, government laws and internationally recognized standards.
  • Conduct Health Risk Assessment (HRA) to assess exposure to the workforce in alignment to IHP of Company HSEQ IH section.
  • Provide insights and present findings related to the Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and Industrial Hygiene Program while participating in meetings with the various division teams to communicate risk priorities and effective solutions.
  • Develop the Project Start up Exposure Assessment Strategy (EAS) for each project based on HRA outcomes, identifies equipment and consumables required, organize quotes and prepares documentation to obtain items to support the program and further handover the same to operating asset.
  • Design, implement and evaluate monitoring strategies for personal exposure assessment as part of the EAS in onshore, offshore and offsites locations, to determine (qualitative) and quantify exposure risk for different Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs).
  • Identify, analyses, and plan control measures for workplace health issues relating to project startup, and implement monitoring and control strategies for unacceptable exposures to prevent or minimize health risks.
  • Collaborate with Medical Department to ensure solutions for health issues to include medical monitoring where appropriate.
  • Ensure effective implementation of IHP in led Major Projects for both Onshore and Offshore that involve conducting audit/inspection programs to identify gaps in conformance to the IHP and to determine level of compliance.
  • Establish engineering and non-engineering control measures (work practices and/or personal protective equipment) as applicable and verify/evaluate the suitability of selected controls to reduce unacceptable exposure risk.
  • Develop and deliver relevant workplace health protection awareness and training including exposure prevention, hazard communications, hearing conservation, heat stress management, radiation protection, respiratory protection, ergonomics etc. to meet required levels of awareness and knowledge in line with regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Develop and implement IH training programs and competency assessments for Qatari National Development Program (NDP) to support Qatar's National Vision 2030.
  • Identify process change and determine improvement opportunities, developing key activities plans and key process indicators to support continuous improvement initiatives in the functions.
  • Develop and review internal and external industrial hygiene procedures in accordance with LNG Management System and provide consultation to the key stakeholders.
  • Review all new chemicals (both routine and non-routine), conducting safety assessments to determine suitability for use on site. Provide recommendations on appropriate control measures to mitigate exposure.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, chemical/environmental engineering, chemistry, or environmental health sciences (with industrial hygiene or toxicology courses).
  • Preferred professional designation as an Industrial Hygienist (CIH, ROH, COH) and other additional professional safety certifications are highly desirable (e.g., CSP, CRSP, CMIOSH).
  • 8 years' experience in industrial hygiene/occupational health and safety including at least 5 years in the oil and gas industry, or petrochemicals/manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent command in English language.
  • Computer literate (proficient with MS Office, basic use of environmental computer software).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and lead a team sometimes under significant time constraints, and ability to communicate with several organizational levels.
  • Requires strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
