What are you going to do 

We are partnering with our client in the oil and gas sector to appoint a Field Engineer to join our client's team in UAE on a contract basis. This is a hands-on role where you will apply your engineering knowledge to support the planning, execution, and management of field projects, contributing directly to safe, efficient, and high-quality operations in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Engineer is responsible for applying engineering knowledge and experience to support planning, execution, and management of field projects. The role will require the best practices and knowledge of internal or external experience in the field of engineering discipline.
  • Applies their conceptual knowledge of field experience and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership.
  • Responsible for solving a range of straightforward field / yard related issues and analyzing possible solutions using the company's standard procedures and processes.
  • Understands key business drivers and apply the acquired knowledge to solve problems through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out safely in compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment policies and procedures.
  • Readiness to travel offshore for job execution, including willingness to be at onshore site as required.
  • Recommend changes in the technical details and drawings where these may result in safe operations and clarity on information in the installation procedures.
  • Develop the vessel layout and barge loadout plans for the transportation of materials, equipment and structures to offshore to facilitate safe and timely installation,
  • Actively participate in project Constructability sessions, Readiness reviews, Hazard Identification studies or Job Safety Analysis as applicable and communicate to implement the recommendations.
  • Review and retain project drawings and documents, report the discrepancies, errors and omissions concerning the information required to perform the work.
  • Ensure the work is within the capabilities of the proposed equipment.
  • Prepare offshore installation procedures as per the Company Procedures and Processes. As a minimum, the procedure(s) will outline the following:
    • Methods, techniques, and practices to be used to perform work
    • The sequences to be used to perform work
    • Installation aids, temporary work, and consumables required to perform the work
  • Prepare material list covering the construction materials and project consumables and liaise with the project coordinator for the procurement.
  • Prepare and issue loadout lists as per project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Marine, E&M, Welding, QA/QC, HSES, Survey/ROV, Diving, Production, Logistics, and subcontractors for offshore readiness.
  • Witness and inspect pre-rigging, loadouts, sea fastening, and receipt of offshore materials and fabricated structures.
  • Verify fabricated item loadouts and coordinate cargo movements by vessel, barge, or truck.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and offshore Operations teams for smooth execution.
  • Monitor work progress and site conditions, reporting impacts on schedule or execution sequence.
  • Conduct offshore work-scope briefings and provide field sketches, checklists, and technical instructions.
  • Support resolution of technical issues and implementation of corrective actions during offshore installation.
  • Prepare post-job reports and compile as-built documentation and project records.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of offshore installation experience.
  • Knowledge in Auto CAD or similar tools.
  • Adequate knowledge of design and offshore project execution.
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. and any 3D software experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to different job sites and work in various environmental conditions as required.
