Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced Acquisition Development Consultant to identify, research and engage potential acquisition targets within Australia's industrial and technical services sectors.

This position is offered as an initial six-month contract engagement, working approximately three days per week and based in Brisbane.

What are you going to do 

The role will focus on identifying suitable acquisition targets, researching businesses, and proactively approaching owners to initiate discussions and build a qualified pipeline.

  • Develop and maintain a targeted acquisition pipeline
  • Identify and research privately owned businesses across strategic market sectors
  • Conduct market mapping and competitor analysis
  • Engage confidentially with business owners, directors and shareholders
  • Assess strategic alignment and commercial suitability of acquisition opportunities
  • Prepare acquisition opportunity briefs and recommendations
  • Coordinate introductions between prospective acquisition targets and senior stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records, pipeline reporting and engagement activity
  • Provide regular updates on opportunity status, risks and next steps

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Experience in corporate development, mergers & acquisitions, business development, transaction advisory or investment banking
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience engaging senior business owners and executive stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and assess growth opportunities within industrial or technical services markets
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Highly developed research, analysis and written communication capabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
  • A well-established professional network within Australian industry is highly regarded
