Brunel Australasia is partnering with a large, leading energy companies to source an experienced Lead Cost Engineer to work in their Brisbane CBD office.

About this role

Are you a seasoned cost engineer with a knack for accurate forecasting and a passion for driving business performance? Our client is searching for a Lead/Senior Cost Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with substantial experience in project controls, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

Responsibilities – To include but are not limited too:

  • Develop accurate cost forecasting, supported by data and stakeholder engagement.
  • Create monthly earned value, planned value, and actual cost metrics to estimate completion (EAC), calculating CPI and SPI.
  • Prepare detailed calculations of Value of Work Done (VOWD), forecast reporting, and trend data for benchmarking and production of LEs and OPs.
  • Produce or assist teams in creating Project Change Requests in line with our management of change procedure.
  • Utilize significant experience in Microsoft Excel, applying complex formulae to real-world problems and manipulating large datasets. Knowledge of VBA and PowerBi is advantageous.
  • Manage and train cost engineers, leveraging experience in lead/senior roles.
  • Collaborate with Planning Engineers to integrate contractor and internal schedules reflected in Primavera P6 and other systems with cost data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Substantial IT experience with cost systems such as SAP and Ecosys.
  • Significant years of experience in project controls.
  • Essential experience in oil and gas cost control; knowledge of unconventional oil and gas is highly advantageous.
  • Proven change management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Deep commitment to Goal Zero with personal accountability.
  • Ability to impact team culture with a commitment to authentic, honest, open, and transparent communication.
  • Strong willingness to proactively connect stakeholders across the business.
  • Must have full working rights in Australia and be located in Brisbane.
