About this role

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing communications and engaging with prospective businesses from the time of initial contact through to completion of the deal
  • Participate in performing various outbound call campaigns as well as lead generation activities, and in coordinating and implementing due diligence for any potential transactions
  • Manage prospect pipelines in order to produce and surpass expected results
  • Negotiate transactions between the business and potential acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships
  • Determine investment conclusions and create presentations for senior M&A management for aiding decision making in these sensitive transactions with sound support utilizing detailed financial models and valuation analyses
  • Conduct extensive research, gathers information about target businesses, and liaises with analysts to develop a prospecting list
  • Oversee and conduct daily meetings, reviews, metrics, and clear documentation of follow ups with prospective businesses for analysis
  • Stay up to date with industry, M&A trends and best practices, constantly imparting them on the department in order to ensure continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s merger and acquisition activities
  • Stay informed on current and developing legislation governing mergers and acquisitions within the business’s jurisdiction, ensuring that all of the business’s M&A initiatives are within the confines of the law

About you

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
  • 6+ years’ experience in a related role, ideally coming from investment banking or M&A consulting, experience with excel modelling
  • Designation in a related field (Ca, CPA, CFA, CBV etc.)
  • Corporate project management discipline and structure
  • Experience with business development, initiating conversations and following through to execution
  • Must have strong financial and modeling skills, as well as strong interpersonal and sales skills
  • Prior experience in private equity, transaction consulting or investment banking considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Global market knowledge, good business understanding, problem-solving skills, and business intuition
  • Strong team player as well as ability to work independently
