About this role


  • The job holder is accountable for the following activities during project execution by Major Project Division;
  • To provide welding engineering, metallurgy and non-destructive testing expertise across PROJECT and DBNPP Projects;
  • To implement the COMPANY Technical Referential and applicable local and international codes;
  • To assist Projects in the execution of the FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, transportation and offshore installation works;
  • To interface with Engineering and Construction Department in particular with the Technical Reference Person (TRP) for the management of Deviation impacting COMPANY Technical Referential.

    Job Dimensions

    Project field development will involve several new projects that would be executed in parallel over the period of 5 years with CAPEX investment of around 3.5 Billion USD. The Major Projects consist of:

  • New wellhead platforms (WHP) installation: 7 new WHPs, each including bridges and tie-ins to existing platforms;
  • Pipelines global network: Existing pipeline(s) replacement for integrity and debottlenecking;
  • Produced water treatment project: Integrate a new module to increase produced water treatment facility;
  • WAG extension 1 : Install new pipelines to build gas network for extension of the WAG on H, E and C locations;
  • Export Scheme Optimization (PROJECT): Potentially two converted moored FSOs replacing the existing storage facilities;
  • New K complex : new platforms.

    The aim of the Export Scheme Optimisation (PROJECT) Project is to replace the existing export system by 2 new FSOs and 2 new SPMs. PROJECT project is organized into 2 packages:

    FSO package: 2 new converted spread moored VLCCs;

    SURF package: 2 new SPMs, subsea network such as pipeline, risers, PLET & PLEM, brownfield modifications and associated tie-ins on platform topside;

    The aim of Debottlenecking Pipe Line Project (DBNPP) is to install new subsea pipe-lines between existing platforms:

    20’’ water injection pipeline from platforms AF to FC (8 kms);

    14’’ wet oil pipeline from platforms FA to AB (8 kms);

    The PROJECT Welding and NDT Engineer is mainly responsible for the welding and NDT activities across all PROJECT and DBNPP Projects, from FEED till hand-over of the PLANT;


  • Promote & comply with applicable safety instructions and other COMPANY HSE procedures in all activities;
  • Carry out work in compliance with COMPANY values and policies, relevant laws and regulations, agreed COMPANY priorities and objectives, COMPANY standards and procedures and good industry practices;
  • To treat all information obtained during course of the work with confidentiality;
  • To review and validate the Welding matrices, Welding Procedure Specifications, Welding Procedure Qualification Records, Welding Book, Production Tests, Heat Treatment process;
  • To participate in the different Contractors and Critical Vendors Kick Of Meetings and Pre-Inspection Meetings;
  • To be involved in the Surveillance and Inspection activities;
  • Witness welding qualifications, welders qualification and test laboratory, as required;
  • To assess performance of dedicated personnel for welding;
  • To review and validate the Non Destructive Testing Procedures and method statement guidelines;
  • To use PRODOM for reviewing and approving documentation;
  • To promote Quality in the Projects and provide Quality and Technical advices;
  • To participate in the Project solutions of the Technical Queries, Deviations Requests, NCRs and Concessions Requests;
  • To lead investigations of significant Quality failures;
  • To lead or participate on qualification/assessment/technical audits over Contractors and Vendors;
  • To provide weekly & monthly status reports including KPI’s to Head Projects QA/QC on welding engineering, metallurgy and non-destructive testing;
  • To participate in the Project Close Out;
  • To issue any lesson learnt, Quality Feed Back Notice or Feedbacks affecting Welding, Metallurgy and Non Destructive Testing.

About you


  • Qualification: Master’s degree in welding - ESSA / IWE / EWE and RT, UT and PAUT following ISO 9712:2012 Level III (PCN, COFREND or CSWIP);
  • Professional Experience (number of years) : 15 in a similar position. Project experience required on pipe-line and FPU, FPSO, FSO, offloading buoy facilities in the Oil and Gas Industry. Familiar with automatic welding and PAUT system;
  • A good knowledge of COMPANY Standards and International codes/standards related to design, fabrication and inspection following DNV for pipe-line and classification rules for floating installations;
  • Good leadership skills and good communication skills;
  • Ability to work on projects in a complex and multicultural environment;
  • Be skilled in using computer programs for word processing, database management, spreadsheets and e-mail communications;
  • H2S OPITO and T-BOSIET trainings.
