About this role

As a Research Technician you will be on a team with other Bench Scale Unit (BSU) technicians. In your role you will work with the technicians and provide backup support as needed. You will have 4 to 6 standard Bench-Scale hydro processing units to operate yourself.

In this role there will be potentially toxic chemicals plus high pressures and temperature equipment. Always keeping safety in mind. You must be aware of your work environment and the safety of those around you.

The laboratory is in Richmond, CA, and you’ll be working on inorganic materials synthesis and characterization. There’s plenty to discover here, and you’ll have variety in your work.

In your role you will be:

  • Conducting lab work for the testing of catalysts and hydrocarbon feedstocks
  • Recording the daily operation information to a specific program
  • Submitting reaction products for analysis, and keeping the unit in good operation conditions
  • Handling basic maintenance and troubleshooting for test equipment
  • Handling sample collection, storage and submission for inspections

About you

About you:

  • Associate Degree in a Chemistry-related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field
  • Laboratory experience in inorganic materials synthesis and characterization
  • Experience in a Laboratory utilizing chemicals, glassware, and bench scale unit equipment

Your Skills:

  • Strong safety awareness, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Mechanical skills for assembling simple piping and testing equipment

Knowledge is the foundation for this role, but more is needed. This role is team-based, and you’ll be working closely with others. You should be confident forming relationships with other departmental personnel. This organization fosters creativity and great teamwork through connections outside immediate teams.
