About this role

Key Job Accountabilities

  • The job holder is accountable for the following activities during Project execution;
  • To insure that welding and NDT activities carried-out by Contractor, Subcontractors and Vendors are conform to established requirements;
  • To implement the COMPANY Technical Referential and applicable local and international codes;
  • To insure that Welding and NDT requirements are well established and implemented by the Contractor during detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, transportation and offshore installation works;


  • Project field development will involve several new projects that would be executed in parallel over the period of 5 years with CAP EX investment of around 3.5 Billion USD. The Gallaf Project consists of;
  • Batch 1 EPCICI: Three 24 slots WI-IP Jackets (FC, DC, EG), bridge linked to existing facilities and with permanent drilling decks; Budget is around 100 MUSD. Water depth are 60 to 70m, Jacket weight is approx. 1500MT;
  • v/ Batchl EPCIC2: Three production topsides and bridges for WI-IP (FC, DC, EG) to process and send production to existing facilities. Topside weight is approx. 1400 MT, Bridge 100m/800MT;
  • Batch2 EPCIC3/4: Four WI-IP (EH, C, GE, GT) jacket + topsides to process and send production to existing facilities. Batch2 WHP will be either bridge linked or remote. EPCIC3 will be for EPCC of facilities, EPCIC4 for all T&I and subsea works where applicable;
  • Gallaf Project is mainly a Greenfield Project with installation of 7 new WHP but there will be a major Brownfield challenge for integration of these new WHP into existing facilities in term of interfaces with other COMPANY entities and SIMOPS works;
  • Batch 1 jacket package phase is planned to bc executed between Q2 2018 and Q3 2019 and Batch 1 topsides package between Q3 2018 and Q3 2020. Batch 2 is planned to be executed between 2019 and 2021;
  • The job holder will be based in to EPCII Contractor's premises during EPC phase with travels to Major Project's premises as required and on board marine spread during the offshore activities. Company staff managed: I max;


  • To review Welding and NDT Documentation issued by the Contractor, Subcontractors and Vendors, with the support of the Major Projects Welding Engineer;
  • Monitor welding consumables management by Contractor including consumable test report (MTRs);
  • Review and approved the different inspection reports issued by the Contractor;
  • Witness welding procedures qualification and welder ability qualifications;
  • Follow up the welding and NDE activities of jackets and insure proper records (welding/NDE/inspection records follow-up);
  • Review and interpret all or part of radiography films in addition to the third party interpretation;
  • Perform UT Cross Check on critical welds;
  • Monitoring of NDT subcontractor and Contractor inspectors qualification and performance;
  • Identification and follow-up of any Non Conformance (NCRs);
  • Troubleshoot technical problems that may affect the construction and liaise with the Major Projects Welding Engineer for the resolution;
  • Identify the critical activities and bottleneck for the progress related to welding. Anticipate; propose solutions to improve welder's productivity and quality performance;
  • Review manufacturing records books.

About you


  • Education to HND/BTS level or COMPANY approved equivalent in engineering discipline. o Welding qualification (AWS cwl/ scwl, CSWIP Grade 3.1 / 3.2 or EWIP/IWIP-S/IWIP-C) o NDT qualification (PCN, COFREND, CSWIP, BGAS or equivalent). o Certified operator level 2 for radiography;
  • Certified operator level 2 for UT (all joint configurations). o Capable to perform NDT techniques;
  • Professional Experience (number of years) : 15;
  • Experience within project : (number of years) : 10;
  • A good knowledge of COMPANY General Specifications (GS) and International codes/standards (ISO, API, ASTM and ASME) related to design, fabrication and inspection;
  • Comprehensive knowledge in welding, material, corrosion and NDE;
  • Good leadership skills and good communication skills;
  • Ability to work on projects in a complex and multicultural environment;
  • Be skilled in using computer programs for word processing, database management, spreadsheets and e-mail communications.
  • Familiar with PRODOM;
  • H2S OPITO and T-BOSIET trainings.
