The Project Manager is responsible for leading planning, procurement, execution, turnover and close out of a construction project. Project Managers ensure that projects meet the defined scope, schedule and budget or adjust as required. Project Managers resolve any issues arising from Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, functional leads or escalates issues to the Project Director. The Project Manager provides leadership, coaching and development to their team and monitors key project performance metrics to ensure successful completion of projects aligned with corporate objectives.

About this role


  • Manage all reporting requirements accurately, within agreed upon timelines (internal/ external);
  • Oversee and optimize project resources to effectively deliver projects on time/budget;
  • Manage all safety risks on the project. Provide direction to safety resources, review all safety incident investigations, review feedback cards lead You Said We Did/Feedback Fridays, correct non-conforming behavior and provide coaching;
  • Manage all environmental risks on the project. Ensure that all requirements of the project's Environmental Protection Plan and any applicable Regulations are adhered too;
  • Work with Construction Managers and Superintendents to develop, implement and manage project execution plans and ensure and optimal level of resources;
  • Support operations and functional management in the achievement of corporate initiatives;
  • Actively participate in preparing quality, safety and project closeout reviews, ensuring client expectations are met and acting as the primary point of contact for the client;
  • Lead change management process including project estimates and work changes with customer;
  • Ensure construction resources are competent and adequate. Work with functional leaders to assign competent and adequate project leadership resources;
  • Adhere to all corporate standards, client commitments and external legislation;
  • Provide feedback on individual performance and manage performance issues;
  • Manage project costs, prepare/review weekly cost forecast and address variances to plan;
  • Work with Supply Chain to secure subcontracts and manage their performance;
  • Implement company approved tools, systems, processes and policies and visibly model values;
  • Consider project risks (2+ weeks in advance) and develop/implement mitigation measures;
  • Foster a culture of team work across the project in the field and with support departments.

About you


  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum or combination) or graduate of an engineering technical diploma or construction management diploma;
  • Minimum of five years in construction project management or project supervision role, linear construction experience preferred;
  • Proven understanding of estimating, project management and industry best practices.
