Principal Advisor – Policy & Reporting

About this role

Responsibilities

Highly quality technical accounting support to various levels of the business by:

  • Supporting the resolution of accounting issues from consultation or discussion with our clients controllership, finance business partners and business analysis through to sign-off on the conclusion by the auditors;
  • Researching and documenting complex accounting judgements;
  • Reviewing and writing technical accounting position papers for complex or significant business issues ;
  • Contributing to the preparation of the Audit Committee paper for escalation of major accounting issues to senior leaders;
  • Leading the impairment testing process and write and/or review the impairment section of our clients Audit Committee reports for the various product groups;
  • Supporting the Controllerships for the implementation of new accounting standards and delivering technical training on new accounting standards;
  • Providing documentation to our clients to be used in the preparation of reports published externally;
  • Preparing the Accounting Issues Briefing, Undeveloped Projects Review and Construction in Progress reports;
  • Provide the required information for internal & external audits;

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, accounting certification CPA or equivalent;
  • Extensive experience in the relevant field;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Bilingual English/French;
  • Theoretical and practical level with all facets of IFRS;
  • Superior organizational skills;
  • Very good interpersonal and team player skills;
  • Robust analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Proactive and with the ability to work independently;
