About this role

The Piping Inspector will be the expert on all weld inspections. You’ll be inspecting and ensuring that proper welding and radiographic procedures are followed and proper documentation is maintained for all Weld Logs. All activities must be performed in accordance with latest industry standards, and company safety requirements.

Primary duties

  • Monitor all welding activities in accordance with project requirements and specifications
  • Ensure all activities performed in safe and professional manner
  • Document all inspection activities on a daily basis
  • Maintain daily records to support documentation of welding activities
  • Responsible for tracking all materials used for pipeline construction including joint numbers, joint lengths and heat numbers associated with all materials (pipe stock, fittings, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all project specific environmental requirements
  • Inform Chief Inspector immediately of any safety or construction deviations or any problems and/or anticipated problems
  • Comply with safety standards as outlined in the company’s Health and Safety Handbook and those prescribed by the job site location and conditions

About you

You will already be working as a Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1) NDE Level II in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrate (PT) and Radiographic test techniques (RT).

You also have:-

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Oil and Gas
  • At least 2 years of experience working on FPSO projects (offshore piping)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Process Piping Codes and Standards
  • Able to use Microsoft Office Suite and other similar applications to document and record Weld Logs and Company Tag IDs for all adjacent pipe components

There’s offshore travel involved, as much of the work is done at site. You’ll have a head for heights, able to climb and perform inspections at high elevations and in confined spaces. You’ll be comfortable working on a variety of scaffolding types.
