About this role

In this role, your focus will be on providing Reel Lay Installation expertise within the Pipeline Group. You will be providing engineering skills and expertise to different projects, for tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes of rigid pipeline systems.

You’ll initially be guided by a lead/senior engineer, producing a range of pipeline deliverables, including reel packing calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, and study reports. You’ll be writing the reports yourself, and checking your own work to deliver accurate work.

You will work with associated subsea related disciplines and you’ll have good knowledge of the interfaces within project environments.

You will be involved with meetings/correspondence within the Pipeline Group, and cross-functionally in a technical capacity. You’ll bring your up-to-date knowledge of subsea pipeline engineering, including industry standard codes. Your experience in delivering design per API 1111, DNVGL-ST-F101, ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8 codes will also be valuable when working with subcontractors, 3rd parties etc.

This is not an entirely office-based role as you’ll additionally be providing engineering support during operations, with occasional short-term periods offshore on overseas assignments.

General Responsibilities:

  • Providing specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in the key area of reel-lay engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice
  • Producing accurate technical documentation that meets Company standards
  • Proposing offshore vessel schedules, attempting to optimize operational timings
  • Proposing innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

Safety is at the heart of our business operations, and you will bring your aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements to the team. You will be involved in HAZID studies and TRAs of tasks detailed in the procedures, and you’ll add to the department’s lessons learned consolidation.

About you

A high level of proficiency in design and analysis industry engineering software (AGA PRCI, Mathcad, DNV tools and Abaqus software). Familiarity with Python and VBA is a big plus.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in design, installation and construction of offshore rigid pipelines
  • Proven proficiency in handling front-end engineering design and/or detailed engineering
  • Experience in EPCIC projects
  • Good current knowledge of subsea pipeline engineering, and industry standard codes

Experience with sour service pipeline design is a plus but not required.
