About this role

As the Geotechnical Engineer you will be assisting (and eventually leading) offshore design engineering. As you progress from assisting to leading the geotechnical engineering function, you will have a more significant role in departmental development assignments.

You will be in contact with the client throughout the design phase of the project. You will be reviewing the client’s design requirements for the project, and participating in design reviews. Any questions or comments that they have about the design will be channeled to you. You’ll need to be up-to-date on all design modifications to expertly answer all enquires. This includes reviewing all geotechnical and geophysical data and developing soil design parameters.

Duties:

  • Developing the soil-pipe interactions for pipeline and riser analyses
  • Developing foundation design loads and assess offshore geohazards
  • Performing geotechnical design/analysis of various subsea and offshore structures including: shallow foundations (PLETs, Skids, etc.), suction piles, driven piles, gravity bases, and other types of subsea and mooring anchors
  • Developing fit-for-purpose foundation sizes for offshore/subsea structures
  • Producing technical documents in accordance with applicable codes, client specifications and standards, project specifications for design, and technical specification for geotechnical work

About you

Required:

  • PhD or Masters degree in a geotechnical engineering specialty
  • 5+ years of offshore geotechnical engineering experience
  • Project experience in laboratory testing, geotechnical data interpretation, shallow and deep foundation design, and geotechnical surveys
  • Experience in geophysical surveys is a plus

Your Skills:

To excel in this role you need to be familiar with industry codes such as API-RP-2A, API-2GEO, API-RP-2SK, ISO 19901-4, DNV-RP-E303, DNV 30.4.

You must be:

  • Proficient in state-of-practice geotechnical/foundation design software including finite element packages such as PLAXIS 2D/3D
  • Familiar with pipe-soil interaction analysis for offshore pipelines and risers
  • Team-oriented, with excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A Texas Professional Engineer registration is a plus
