About this role

The Coatings Inspector will be working with other inspectors and QA/QC personnel, managing offshore inspection activities. All activities must be undertaken safely, according to industry, company and project standards.

Key duties:

  • Perform point inspections of surface preparation and coating work in accordance with Inspection Quality procedures
  • Reviewing requirements and developing implementation for coating requirements
  • Maximizing use and calibration of inspection instruments as described in the Inspection Quality Manual
  • Analyze, revise, and make recommendations for improvements to the inspection process
  • Ensure all contractors and personnel are following coating specifications in accordance with NACE, SSPC and ASTM standards

You’ll be recommending and making changes to the inspection quality manual in consultation with the District or Project Coatings Inspector. You’ll also have oversight of the project cost and scheduling, tracking progress on a daily and weekly basis. You’ll be solving problems and issues along the way, and conducting on-site meetings with team members as required, in all kinds of weather.

About you

  • A minimum of 5 years of coatings inspection experience in Oil and Gas
  • At least 2 years experience working with FPSO projects (offshore coating inspections)
  • To be familiar with Coating Specifications and Standards
  • Able to use Microsoft Office Suite and other similar applications to plan, document and report coating work and NACE inspections in accordance with the project and industry standards

You’ll need to be able to travel offshore as much of the work is done at site. You’ll have a good vision (depth and color) and a good head for heights, able to climb and perform inspections at high elevations and in confined spaces. You’ll be comfortable working on a variety of scaffolding types.
