About this role

As Mechanical Engineer / Piping Designer at this extraordinary company, you will apply your experience in the various aspects of piping design to mid-size and small projects.

You'll be leading the production of PID, piping and general site-layout schemes, preparing piping design drawings, 3D modelling, interfacing with vendors, fabricators and other engineering disciplines.

You will be responsible for piping design work on assigned projects and performing field design work, including final sketches and verifying drawings.

Other responsibilities:

  • Developing the design of complex piping models given basic information such as P&IDs, GA drawings, piping specifications and equipment arrangement;
  • Preparing piping design work, pipe layout and the production of piping drawings and documents;
  • Interfacing with other engineering disciplines, department and clients;
  • Monitoring piping design costs and schedules for projects;
  • Generating design and detail drawings including orthographic, #D Models, plans/sections and isometrics;
  • Interacting with clients to convey project design and identify scope changes;
  • Reviewing all project documents, piping layouts, orthographic drawings and isometrics for scope, presentations and technical accuracy prior to issue;
  • Preparing Bill of Materials and other construction documents;
  • Working from hand isometric sketches in field, as well as isometric drawings from piping models;
  • Modelling vendor equipment for projects;
    Producing 3D model for packaging the equipment;
  • Preparing manuals and selecting equipment suppliers, FAT, SAT and OAT testing.

You won't spend all your time behind a desk - you will travel 20-30% of your time, visiting field sites, clients and vendors.

About you

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or process technology;
  • 2 to 4+ year of piping design and equipment layout experience, working in one or more of the following service areas: Natural Gas, Biogas or Chemical processing;
  • Experience in Consulting Engineering is desirable;
  • Field experience required;

And you'll need a valid US Driver’s License to get out and about.
