About this role

As a Lab Technician you will conduct corrosion experiments and various other projects. You will work safely with low concentrations of H2S and will follow proper safety procedures in the lab at all times. You’ll be using safety data sheets and personal protective equipment as required.

You’ll use bench-top and pilot-scale corrosion testing equipment to collect your data. This means using small-scale and large-scale laboratory equipment so you’ll need experience in both. You’ll always be looking for opportunities to improve your experiments.

You will be working in an environment with many moving parts. It is vital that you follow safe lab practices while working. You need to be aware of the environment so that you can identify any safety hazards and take action to avoid issues.


  • Participating in safety reviews and discussions;
  • Working in close collaboration with an engineer.

On this job you may be on-call (nights, weekends) to reset tests if there is a power interruption.

About you


  • 5+ years of industrial experience as a laboratory technician;
  • Experience at operating laboratory equipment at pressures of 1000 psig and temperatures of 200 degrees C;
  • Ability to perform basic laboratory practices safely;
  • Able to follow detailed experimental procedures meticulously.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience operating electrochemical equipment, e.g., resistance probes, electrodes, potentiostats;
  • Previous corrosion testing experience;
  • Solid understanding of process flow, process and instrument drawings (P&IDs), and component interactions in experimental systems



  • Knowledge and proper use of personal protective equipment;
  • Ability to read/interpret safety data sheets and how to act in keeping with associated safety requirements;
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for improving experiments;
  • Operation of both small-scale and large-scale laboratory equipment
