About this role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation and management of HSE programs, plans, policies and procedures and ensure they meet or exceed legal, regulatory, corporate and customer requirements
  • Lead and develop health, safety, environmental and emergency response subject matter experts
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting of HSE regulatory and legislative developments and position the company to react and adapt to change and optimize business opportunity
  • Develop a top-quartile HSE culture protecting people and the environment through prevention and early intervention
  • Provide support and training in HSE functions across the corporation
  • Ensure a program of continuous review and improvement of the HSE functions
  • Provide support for budgeting of HSE relevant functions
  • Monitor incidents, near misses and injury management systems
  • Develop and maintain mature leading and lagging metrics and scorecard to support continue improvement and management of change
  • Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis and internal audits
  • Assist with regulatory applications and audits
  • Ensure and support comprehensive risk and hazard analysis is conducted all locations
  • Assist with contractor management and HSE requirements

About you

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety and risk management or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in HSE or related field
  • Progressive leadership experience in Health, Safety and Environment roles
  • Experience and training employees in HSE processes
  • Familiarity with HSE legislative and regulatory requirements in all or some of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and National Energy Board regulated facilities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate, problem-solve and negotiate
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Familiarity with safety loss management systems would be an asset
  • Willing to travel
