About this role

As a Geotechnician, data manipulation, proficiency and integrity will drive everything you do. You’ll be working closely with the Technical Data Center to capture and document new and rediscovered 3rd party and vendor datasets. You’ll have the opportunity to dig deep into old datasets, applying the latest tools to take a fresh look at old fields. You may uncover all sorts of lucrative datasets that have not been manipulated previously.

You’ll also be establishing and maintaining local and global data standards, so that project data stores can be mined and shared efficiently. You’ll be resolving information queries using proprietary software tools, as well as using industry standard software such as ArcGIS and Petrel for managing spatial data. You will be reconciling legacy information, mapping it into the company databases, transforming and reformatting data from original sources as needed, all with a high degree of accuracy.

This Geotechnician role goes beyond just importing and positioning data. You’ll be generating and supporting the creation of geoscience maps, generating presentation packages, logs and capturing information to drive decision-making. You’ll be creating, editing and digitizing Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data, and applying your analytical skills to produce first-pass interpretation support for Geoscientists.

And you’ll be sharing what you find beyond your immediate colleagues. There are multiple projects to engage you, and you’ll be part of a global Geoscience Technical Support network. If you are stuck in a rut in your current role, or ready to apply yourself to a fresh set of projects, this could be just what you need.

About you

You have experience with geoscience data, and strong knowledge of geodetics and coordinate reference systems. You have basic knowledge of hardcopy data repositories, and good skills in scripting languages (Python, Perl or SQL). Knowledge of Petra Data Management and IHS Kingdom are always worth mentioning in your resume.

Required: BSc in relevant Geoscience or Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or at least 3 years of experience in an Exploration, Development and Production environment

If you are ready to take the initiative, apply today.
