About this role

  • Provide HSSE leadership and coaching to both LNG Canada staff, the EPCF Contractor, the MFY and their key sub-contractors;
  • Become a leading member of the LNG Canada Yard Fabrication Team and provide HSSE coaching support to team members;
  • Support, facilitate and enable the EPCF Contractor to deliver on its moral and contractual commitments in support of the Safest Project on Earth;
  • Supervise and performance manage a small team of HSSE Field Advisors ensuring that they work with the EPC Contractor and MFY in a collaborative, One Team environment;
  • Develop strong, businesslike relationships with all the project stakeholders especially the EPCF and MFY construction teams and contractors;
  • Ensure that the HSSE policies, programs and plans of the EPCF, the MFY and their sub-contractors are being applied in full at the yard, each and every shift;
  • Carry out formal and informal HSSE audits and reviews on both the EPCF, MFY and sub-contractor activities;
  • Spend at least 50% of each shift in the field observing, coaching, advising and supporting a very large workforce with multiple interfaces;
  • Participate in the EPCF/MFY HSSE meetings, planning and sequencing workshops, construction HAZID’s, significant incident investigations and constructability reviews;
  • Work with the EPCF to ensure that risks are understood and managed to ALARP;
  • Build strong relationships with the Modular Fabrication Yard emergency response teams.

About you

  • A passion for safety in execution and having the knowledge and courage to achieve HSSE extraordinary results;
  • Living the values of Professional Delivery, Aligned Objectives and Respectful Relationships in the engagement with EPC Contractor and its sub-contractors;
  • 15 years’ progressive HSSE leadership experience in a major/mega construction project environment is preferred;
  • Past/recent fabrication yard experience overseeing contractor HSSE management system will be a pre-requisite;
  • Strong interpersonal skills is required to effectively manage all the project interfaces;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Effectively lead and inspire diverse teams of technical and non-technical staff in support of the Safest Project on Earth;
  • Ability to influence without formal authority;
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills;
  • The ideal candidate will have both English and Mandarin as dual language skills.
