About this role

As Contracts Attorney you’ll provide legal support for a wide range of the organization’s departments (primarily the downstream and chemicals business teams). You’ll need experience of reviewing marketing materials for advertising, social media or marketing collateral, relating to claim substantiation. Your main focus will be on handling and managing multiple requests from various partners and stakeholders, to ensure compliance with relevant advertising regulations (FTC Regulations and Guidelines). You’ll be handling changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, so that all marketing and public relations materials can be assessed and approved prior to publication.

This is a high profile role based in San Ramon, CA, which could become a permanent position for the right person.

Duties:

  • Review and clear marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable advertising regulations, company standards and industry standards (such as FTC Regulations and Guidelines).
  • Oversee and assist with the development of claims process improvement initiatives across all brand groups as needed.
  • Partner with communications teams to identify supporting evidence is available for all claims made in corporate print, broadcast and digital advertising.
  • Advise clients on social media, policy and other relevant issues, including disclosure requirements and endorsement guidelines on social media posts and advertising.

You’ll be applying your legal expertise to assist in obtaining affidavits and releases for use of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyright, name and likeness rights.

About you

Required:

  • JD degree licensed to practice law required, preferably in California or Texas;
  • +2 years’ experience as an attorney supporting claim substantiation, advertising, marketing matters, preferably within an Enterprise environment or law firm environment.

Your Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of concepts relating to marketing, advertising, social media and intellectual property;
  • Solid understanding and use of Social Media Platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn);
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to effectively analyze and communicate legal issues across broad functional and organizational lines.
