Our client, a leading chemical manufacturing corporation, is seeking a Construction Manager. Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Manager will be accountable for the overall site safety performance, the construction activities not explicitly within the scope of the areas, the overall roll up of the construction progress and leading the development of mitigation's for common performance issues on site. In addition, they will interface between the areas as they relate to usage of space, movement and equipment, as well as coordinate completion and turnover of process-systems for construction, testing and turnover. This is a 2-year contract position.

About this role

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to interfaces between the areas by optimizing the uses of space and time to achieve safe execution for minimal cost within given schedule requirements. This requires close working relationships with the project Responsible Care (RC) Lead, Construction Planners, Area Project Managers (APM) and Area Superintendents;
  • Drive site wide RC performance through data analysis/trending and as required, implementation of the required corrective actions;
  • Drive overall construction progress roll up and analysis and as required, the implementation of site wide corrective actions;
  • Interface Planning between the Areas 100/200; 300 (ISBL) 400/500/600 (OSBL);
  • Site Traffic and Logistics, Heavy Lifts;
  • Temporary Services and Facilities;
  • Pre-Commissioning, Completion and Turn-Over;
  • Support the Area Project Managers on interface management between areas.

  • Heavy Lift Coordinator;
  • Common Service Coordinator;
  • Construction Technicians;
  • Turnover and Completions Coordinator;
  • Logistics Coordinator.

About you

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of construction safety, and a demonstrated ability to lead by example;
  • A minimum of 15 years’ of construction experience with at least 10 years’ in a construction management role;
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks;
  • Self-motivated, able to work with limited direction/oversight;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to relate well with all areas and levels.
