Our client, a large petrochemical company, is searching for a Construction Field Coordinator to help develop and manage the Project Interface Schedule for their $2B expansion project in the Sarnia area.

About this role

Reports to the Lead Planner/Scheduler. The Construction Field Coordinator is responsible for development and maintenance of the Project Interface Schedule. The main responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • Develop the Project Interface Schedule, based on careful study of the project’s engineering, contracting and construction plans and schedules;
  • Analyze the project design, using the 3D model and design drawings to identify interface and timing issues;
  • Analyze the relationships between construction contracts and develop a master list of interface milestones;
  • Determine planned float for relationships between interface milestones, in consultation with the Construction Management Team;
  • Communicate milestones for each contract/contractor and develop a reporting method for contractors to provide regular updates on milestone achievements or changes thereto;
  • Monitor construction progress and update the Project Interface Schedule;
  • Provide reports to the Construction Management Team on the Project Interface Schedule and highlight any changes or concerns.

About you

  • A strong understanding of path of construction on large construction projects;
  • Demonstrated problem–solving, prioritization, planning and analytical skills;
  • Ability to drive to intelligent solutions to maintain / accelerate schedule together with reducing or maintaining cost;
  • Strong planning and scheduling abilities, experience with Primavera P6 would be an asset;
  • Ability to learn how to use new software at a basic level. Experience with Smart Plant is an asset;
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in the construction industry;
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal oversight;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience interfacing with contractors
