Safety minded individual looking to gain some more experience in a light industrial field? This contract role will add some experience to your resume and give you some industry insight. Our client is searching for a talented individual to fill in the role of a blender operator. You will mainly be working with lubricant oil materials on a daily basis.

Your job schedule will be a rotating two-shift operation. You will need to be flexible to work the day shift (5:30 am- 3:00 pm) or the swing shift (12:00 pm- 9:30 pm) based on shifts in business needs. Your position is 40 hours/week (Monday- Friday). You may be asked to work overtime or on weekends as needed.

About this role

As a Blender Operator you will be blending additive packages and finished lubricants for passenger car, heavy-duty, railroad, natural gas. The additive packages and finished lubricants will also have specialty applications that will be used in lab bench testing, field tests, and engine approval programs. Blend size ranges from small 100g to large 50 drum quantities and are assembled using detailed procedures in an industrial lab environment. In addition to blending, your position will include formulation adjustments to meet targeted specifications, running limited analysis such as kinematic viscosity and cold crank simulators.

You must be a safety sensitive person by maintaining a clean & safe laboratory. You will be an integral part of a team focused on creating and supporting a "safety first" environment while working together to deliver accurate, timely blending services for customers.

Duties:

  • Managing inventory and processing samples
  • Preparing blends and material handling tasks
  • Communicating any deficiencies to management; assisting management with problem resolution related to blending and documenting any resulting actions
  • Initiating actions up to and including equipment shutdown, to mitigate a safety, environmental, and/or product quality incident

About you

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • 1-2 years of work experience within a light industrial and/or laboratory environment;
  • Valid driver's license.

You will need to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, and a background check. You’ll have to pass a physical and functional capacity examination. On the job you will need to be able to lift and carry a 5-gallon container weighing up to 50 pounds.

Your position requires regular interaction with mechanical equipment to carry/lift/move heavy objects up to 500 pounds. Our client will provide you training and certification for a forklift upon your hire if needed.

Highly Desirable:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry;
  • Process Technology or ROP Industrial Maintenance Mechanic certified;
  • Previous laboratory, industrial processing, refinery experience;
  • Material inventory management experience;
  • Customer Service experience.

In this role should be skilled in:

  • Creating detailed and error free work;
  • Precisely weighing and measuring;
  • Communicating effectively through multiple channels;
  • Troubleshooting equipment, recognizing problems, evaluating options, and generating solutions.
